Mr. Mc.Gregor was on his hands and knees planting out young cabbages,

but he jumped up and ran after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, "Stop thief!"

...Nel giardino pieno di legumi freschi e verdi, egli cominciò a mangiare lattuga e fagiolini e poi anche le radici.

Sentendosi indi indisposto, si mise in cerca di prezzemolo.

Ma non ne trovò e scorse invece più in là Don Gregorio.

Don Gregorio stava carpone, piantando cavoli, ma appena vide Pierino saltò di colpo, afferrò un rastrello e lo inseguì, gridando: "Fermati ladro!"...
